Frequently Asked Questions
When you purchase concealed carry insurance you are purchasing an insurance company which will give you money toward criminal defense representation, civil defense representation, bail and an expert witness and will indemnify you under certain circumstances if the person that you are involved in a self-defense incident with sues you.
In the case of NY TAC DEFENSE, you are pre-paying your legal fees in the event that you are involved in a self-defense incident. Pre-Paid clients will get criminal defense representation of between $250,000 and unlimited depending on the plan, unlimited representation in a civil suit, unlimited representation for an Extreme Risk Protection Order/Red Flag case, free answers to quick 2 nd Amendment questions, 24/7 response from an experienced criminal defense attorney for any covered act of self-defense and discounts on other legal services (depending on the plan).
The primary difference is that in the case of NY TAC DEFENSE, because you have already retained our law firm, our representation can start immediately after we are notified of a covered issue. In the case of an insurance company, you would still need to collect the money, find an attorney and retain an attorney before you have legal representation. However, because they are an insurance company they can give you money for bail, an expert witness and indemnify you against a lawsuit. We cannot and do not do those things. In the case of NY TAC DEFENSE, you are simply pre-paying your legal fees to our firm.
Since we are a law firm, experienced with New York law our plan provides representation in more situations than the insurance companies do. Specifically, our plan covers Extreme Risk Protection Order/Red Flag cases and answers questions/gives advice on New York 2 nd Amendment topics. The insurance companies don’t cover this.
